Mexicali is a city located on the far northwest part of the country, just 65 miles east from Tijuana; is also the capitol of the well known state of Baja California. Mexicali is the hottest city in Mexico and gets its name from the Mexico-California connection and for being a border city joined to the state of California.

Mexicali offers great variety of services, where first class hotels to small local and well established hotels can be found around the city, they all got something in common: offering the best Mexican hospitality possible. Mexicali is famous for having more than fifty Chinese restaurants around the city, due to the large colony of Chinese that established in the region many years ago; visiting and enjoying one of its restaurants is a pleasure you cannot miss to taste.

Among of the other places to visit are the art gallery called The City Gallery that presents different expositions throughout the year; another interesting place are the exhibitions of the University Museum and its historical hall, as well as the Cucapah Community Museum, whose mission is to preserve and spread the customs and traditions of the Cucapah, an indigenous tribe in the region.
Of course, one can also explore the Chinese Pagoda in Plaza de la Amistad, along the Garita border crossing, as well as the modern Civic Center, which is the administrative heart of the municipality.

Mexicali is close to many natural attractions such as San Felipe, Baja California’s new beach development, known well for having great fishing on its waters. Desert, canyons and more can be enjoyed in this growing city of Mexico, come and spend a great time here.
